Ennismore, whose majority shareholder is Accor, will develop two new TRIBE hotels in Auckland and bring the Hyde brand to Queenstown within the next three years.

The announcement follows the signing of a deal with CP Group, one of New Zealand’s largest hotel owners and developers. The signing also includes a JO&JOE in Auckland, however this is a hostel-style property, so unlikely to have the business events sector in its sights.

Ennismore, also owner of the SO/ and 25Hours brands, which are set to have Australian openings in Melbourne and Sydney respectively in the near future, already has a SO/ in Auckland and a TRIBE in Perth – the first of the brand globally, opening in 2017. There is also a Mondrian under construction at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.

“This is a major milestone in Ennismore’s journey to bring our globally recognised lifestyle brands to key cities in New Zealand,” said co-CEO of Ennismore, Gaurav Bhushan.

“We want to be the leading lifestyle hotel player in the Pacific region and we see it as an opportunity to bring our fresh and exciting brands, which are rooted in culture and purpose, to visiting guests and neighbourhood locals.”

“Globally, the lifestyle segment is bouncing back from the impacts of the pandemic quicker than traditional hotels, driven mostly by strong F&B demand.

“This is generating robust interest and has a strong growth trajectory as we strengthen our position in this segment, with concepts that integrate the notion of entertainment and feature restaurants and bars.

“Our lifestyle brands, with their unique and authentic F&B offering, make each a destination for both local communities and international travellers.

“We are excited to be introducing our lifestyle brands into New Zealand, and the combined expertise of Ennismore, Accor and CP Group will deliver unforgettable experiences,” said Bhushan.

The current iteration of Ennismore came into being last year, when co-founder of the existing Ennismore business, which champions founder-built brands, Sharan Pasricha, partnered with Accor to create a joint venture which has Accor as its majority shareholder.
