Australian industry association Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) has announced that its national conference EVOLVE will head to the Gold Coast next year and return to a longer 1.5-day format in early June.
MEA’s national industry awards will also return in 2023, with submissions covering 2021 as well as 2022, in recognition of the fact that the awards program did not run this year.
Award submissions open today and close on February 28, with the gala dinner announcing the national award winners traditionally closing out the conference.
When EVOLVE is held on June 7 and 8, 2023 in Southeast Queensland, it’ll mark the first time the Gold Coast has hosted the event in nearly two decades.
“I’m really excited that MEA will return to the Gold Coast for the first time in 17 years for our annual conference,” said MEA CEO Peter McDonald.
“Where better to begin winter than somewhere sunny, bright, fun and vibrant. With many parts of Australia having a public holiday either the preceding or following Monday, our dates bode well for a bit of a working holiday. Not many places better to do that than ‘Australia’s favourite playground’ as it’s come to be known.”
“We’ll shortly be announcing venues and a major partner who has jumped on board from the outset.”
