Two New Zealand properties have joined the ranks of the Mantra Group. Peppers Portage, formerly known as Portage Resort Hotel, along with Mantra Lake Tekapo will take the group’s network to 12 properties, with eight branded Peppers, two as Mantra resorts, and two as BreakFree resorts.

“Peppers is one of the fastest growing luxury hotel brands in New Zealand having added four spectacular properties to the network in 2012, with further expansion scheduled in 2013,” Mantra Group CEO, Bob East, said.

Extensive plans to upgrade Peppers Portage include upgrades to its 41 rooms, the restaurant and bar, along with major landscaping of the surrounding grounds to meet Peppers quality standards, all due for completion late this year.

The boutique resort is perfectly positioned allowing guests the opportunity to enjoy winery tours in and around Blenheim and Picton, cruising on the Marlborough Sounds, walking New Zealand’s famous Queen Charlotte Track, and eco activities such as treks, kayaking and sailing on the Kenepuru Sound.  It also has conference venues to host up to 100 delegates.

The New Zealand developments are part of an ongoing Asia-Pacific expansion for Mantra Group which recently announced it will open its first property in Asia in March – the Mantra Nusa Dua in Bali. A new Peppers development is also set to open on Naisoso Island in Fiji in early 2014.
