In a bright spot for Malaysia, which is struggling with record numbers of COVID-19 cases, even with half of the country’s states and territories under a total lockdown, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre has been named best exhibition venue for 2021 in APAC Insider’s South-East Asia Business Awards.
“This award is a great encouragement amidst such challenging times and provides a strong motivation for us to remain resilient and to continue positively pushing ahead, innovating and creating flexible meeting and events product offerings and solutions that meet our client needs across the board,” said the convention centre’s General Manager Alan Pryor.
Currently acting as a vaccination centre, the venue’s team was instrumental in working with industry to develop guidelines for the safe resumption of business events, which did allow some events to take place earlier in the year.
Malaysia recorded its highest number of COVID-19 cases to date on Sunday, at just over 17,000 daily cases.
The nation’s vaccine program has been accelerated, with almost half of the adult population having received a single vaccine dose and over 20 percent fully vaccinated.
