“We achieved what we set out to do by the bucket load,” said Get Global co-director, Gary Bender, following the inaugural exhibition held at the ICC Sydney last Friday.
The event saw 120 representatives of international hotels, airlines, convention bureaux, DMCs, cruise companies meet with more than 240 of Australia’s key meeting and incentive travel decision makers.
Conventions & Incentives New Zealand’s Australia BDM, Heidi Heming, said Get Global was a great success for the 18 exhibitors from NZ, with the relaxed format allowing for quality conversations and relevant introductions.
“The quality of the visitors was excellent and they were genuinely interested to learn more. The feedback from our members has been positive so New Zealand will definitely be back next year,” Ms Heming said.
“The buyer flow throughout the day was great, some even coming back for seconds,” Mr Bender said
“The positive feedback received on the day and over the weekend has been amazing from exhibitors on their ROI and buyers congratulating us on a great show.”
“[From] The support by both exhibitors and buyers on the day it seems the message is clear… the industry has embraced the new concept,” added director, Donna Kessler.
Ms Kessler said she believed the traditional tradeshow model had become tired and cost prohibitive.
“We consulted the industry and listened to them and the result is a collective of their experience and our, making Get Global the only outbound, solely dedicated MICE trade show in Australia.”
