Sydney’s convention centre has won the AIPC Innovation Award at the International Association of Convention Centres’ meeting in Budapest, for the venue’s Connect Hub, launched earlier this year.

The Connect Hub builds on ICC Sydney’s existing digital offerings launched during the pandemic, including the centre’s dedicated media studio for virtual events, ICC Sydney Connect, their digital events platform, and the Digital Concierge service for virtual speaker prep. The winning technology innovation caters to both in-person and virtual stakeholders for events run at ICC Sydney.

“Our people’s commitment to innovation, investment in upskilling and training, while consistently anticipating and prioritising our clients’ event needs has ensured ICC Sydney remains at the fore of audio visual technical delivery whether events are held in person, virtually or a hybrid of the two,” said ICC Sydney CEO Geoff Donaghy.

“We are immensely proud to have a culture that encourages our team of professionals to implement highly impactful innovations, such as Connect Hub, that underpin the success we deliver for our clients every day.”

Director of audio visual services at ICC Sydney, Brian Nash said Connect Hub future-proofed events of all kinds.

“Connect Hub was born out of our team’s agility and dedication to working with clients to ensure event success in these modern times of evolving operating conditions.

“Through Connect Hub we have future-proofed events of all types by taking traditional speaker preparation to the next level for both onsite and online speakers, including a dedicated media studio for broadcast events, a video edit suite, digital signage management and digital event platform design and delivery,” said Nash.

The centre is also celebrating the involvement of two team members in AIPC’s new Future Shapers program. Together with Stephanie Martin from Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, ICC Sydney’s Mathew Haynes and Sandra Rae ensured Australia had the largest presence in the program of any country in the world.
