The competition to attract candidates to apply for jobs has taken an enticing twist. Imagine getting a response to a job application in just one day.

Sydney’s major convention centre ICC Sydney has announced details of an accelerated recruitment process promising just that.

Everyone has heard stories from people who’ve put a massive effort into applying for a job online, never to get any kind of response. It’s demoralising and poor corporate behaviour.

ICC Sydney CEO Geoff Donaghy says a positive candidate experience is central to its hiring process and aligns with ICC Sydney’s objective to uphold their employee value proposition – to do the extraordinary.

Under the new recruitment program, jobseekers will get feedback within a day of their application.

In addition, the venue is also introducing casual open days which will run each week, with the first open day taking place this Thursday.

“With the steep increase of in-person events, we are adding new team members across a spectrum of skills to meet the needs of our clients,” said Donaghy.

“Our approach to recruitment, combined with our enhanced employee benefits program, will help us to continue to be more than a venue for the customers and community we serve.”

The venue’s Director of Human Resources, Luke Fleming, said successful casual candidates can expect to be notified of a job offer within a day of their interview, trained within five days and start the following week.

“We have opened up a number of casual and permanent roles to meet the surge in demand for face-to-face events. Our accelerated recruitment process streamlines the candidate journey and improves their overall experience from application, to offer and on-boarding with us,” Fleming said.

ICC Sydney says it has over 200 events in its calendar until the end of June 2022. Roles on offer at the centre include banquet waiters, chefs, those working in kitchen and event logistics, security officers and those working in customer service positions.
