Located less than a block back from Sydney Harbour, the Sebel Quay West Suites Sydney has completed a multi-million-dollar refurbishment of the all-suite hotel.

All spacious suites – either one or two bedrooms, starting at an average of 50m2 – have new soft furnishings, designer lighting, carpets and dining tables and chairs.

The hotel’s lobby has also undergone a complete transformation and onsite restaurant Quartier Bar & Bistro has a new lick of paint and new lighting.

The hotel has meeting space for up to 100 in theatre and 70 for seated dining in its Gloucester Room.

The Western Australian government has unveiled concept images of a new-build $30 million 66-suite hotel on the foreshore in Albany, one of WA’s larger regional centres, with a population of almost 38,000 people, located on the southern coast of the state, just over 400km from Perth.

The proposed development of a Middleton Beach hotel, to be delivered by Pacifica Ausglobal, will be located on long-vacant land and feature a food and beverage offering on the ground floor.

The planned hotel is currently going through design tweaks and reviews before being submitted to the City of Albany for development approval, which will include an opportunity for feedback from the public.

Subject to approvals, construction is expected to begin in early 2023.

“Middleton Beach is already one of Albany’s most popular seaside destinations and this major development project will generate a new and vibrant tourism destination, driving economic and employment opportunities for the Great Southern,” said WA lands minister John Carey.

“To be located on the former site of the iconic Esplanade Hotel, the premium hotel will be a key attraction within the state government’s Middleton Beach Activity Centre area, connecting seamlessly to the redeveloped foreshore.”

This is the second recent major hotel development for Albany after the Hilton Garden Inn Albany opened in the destination late last year.
