Domenic Genua from the Boating Industry Association of NSW has been appointed president of the Exhibition & Events Association of Australasia, replacing Matt Pearce who has been in the role for the past five years

Mr Genua has served on the board of the association for 11 years. The Boating Industry Association of NSW marketing and events manager said it was an honour to be invited to take on the role of president at such a crucial time for the industry.

Mr Genua has steered the Sydney International Boat Show from strength to strength, and will present the 46th show at the Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre in August this year.

EEAA chief executive, Joyce DiMascio, commended the leadership and focus that outgoing president Matt Pearce had brought to the association.

“Matt has played a leading role in sharpening the focus of the association over recent years. He has contributed generously to the volunteer board and helped to build the effectiveness of the Association,” she said.

Last Wednesday, the EEAA was advised by Infrastructure NSW that negotiations with the preferred supplier of temporary exhibition facilities at Glebe Island had been terminated. The EEAA has taken the lead to ensure the NSW Government delivers on its commitment to build an interim facility at Glebe Island by January 2014.

In response the NSW government said the temporary facility will be built and operating by early 2014.
