NAME: Natalie Graham

BUSINESS NAME: QT Canberra & Rydges Canberra

POSITION: Area director of sales & marketing ACT

What are you working on right now in anticipation of a return of events?

Here in the capital we’ve already seen a gradual return of some of our favourite (and new!) event faces. During the downtime our executive chef, Josh Smith-Thirkell, was getting creative in the kitchen working on our Covid Safe catering concept. He’s whipped up a flurry of individual breakfast, lunch and dinner boxes that stay true to QT’s signature flair and offer something truly new for Rydges. I may sometimes ask him to over cater…

What’s one lesson you have learnt during the COVID-19 lockdown period?

Never take anything for granted!

Can I have two lessons? The second being sanitise, sanitise, sanitise!

What do you value more now than you may have pre-COVID-19?

Our bustling hotels and the large and diverse event spaces within them! We’ve been so fortunate that both QT Canberra and Rydges Canberra are home to some of the largest function spaces in the ACT. QT Canberra holds the crown of the largest ballroom in the city which has been invaluable when it comes to providing clients with Covid safe environments regardless of event size.

How do you think events will change in the future?

The heightened focus on hygiene and delegate distancing isn’t going anywhere, any time soon! It’s part of our present and our future, and we’re proud to be pioneering this.

Why are events important?

Take a seat, we’re going to be here a while… ha!

Events grant us the opportunity to connect with each other on a truly unmatched level. They help us to build trust with stakeholders, jam out new ideas, launch brands, announce new products, ignite friendships and most importantly create unforgettable moments. Who could argue with that?!
