NAME: Melissa Couch

BUSINESS NAME: Heritage Queenstown

POSITION: sales manager

What are you working on right now in anticipation of a return of events?

Our recent partnership with HQ, a respected local events company, has produced a three-night conference package with lots of bells and whistles, at a very competitive price point for the recovering domestic market. We are also working on a special ‘welcome back’ package for the Australian market in 2021. Watch this space!

What’s one lesson you have learnt during the COVID-19 lockdown period?

Face-to-face business is still key. We have observed so much productivity from delegates attending company or industry sector events held here over the years. Virtual meetings can have their challenges, especially connectivity and keeping up participant engagement.

What do you value more now than you may have pre-COVID-19?

The incredible place I call home, Queenstown New Zealand. The beauty and freedom takes my breath away.

How do you think events will change in the future?

Going forward there will be a lot more health and safety aspects important in hosting an event. We are fortunate with our hotel design and its location, that we can offer exclusive use for an event to give that extra bit of assurance.

Why are events important?

We are social beings, and nothing unifies and invigorates a company or an industry sector, more than meeting others in the same business to exchange ideas and make business connections in person.
