With conditions for business events looking up, Business Events Geelong held a virtual roadshow this week to encourage consideration of the destination amongst Australian and international planners.
More than 50 qualified event buyers attended the event, which included one-on-one meetings and a live gin tasting with local distiller Anther Distillery.
Business Events Geelong Convention Bureau Manager said the event was a massive success and generated positive feedback.
“With state borders opening up by the end of the year, we thought it was the perfect time to reconnect the industry with buyers in a format which was interactive, engaging and most importantly…fun.”
Exhibitor Tegan Clingan from Waurn Ponds Estate said the virtual event revealed demand for a range of meeting types from board room meetings to large team building events.
“After a difficult year, it was exciting and reassuring to hear that there is still a big demand for in-person events. They want to bring teams and people back together. Our industry has been hit hard by the pandemic—but we will bounce back.”
Buyer Sandra Doyle said she was “heading down to Geelong as soon as I can”.
