The Birdsville Races in remote outback Queensland has issued a call-out for volunteers for the event on September 3 and 4, 2021.

Following the cancellation of the Races in 2020 due to the pandemic, organisers are suggesting it may be a back door to accessing the event, with demand expected to be high when tickets go on sale later this month.

“All indications are that interest is very strong this year and demand to secure a ticket is bigger than ever before, so volunteering is a great way to guarantee you can be part of all the action,” said Gary Brook, Vice President, Birdsville Race Club.

Volunteer positions cover hospitality, information, as marshalling and entry, media liaison, ticketing, minibus driving, set-up and pack-down and volunteer coordinating.

“Volunteering is the best way to really be immersed in the magic of the Birdsville Races.  You’re behind the scenes on one of Australia’s best known outback events,” said Brook.

Birdsville is approximately 1,160km by road from Adelaide and 1,570km from Brisbane.

Applications to volunteer can be completed on the Birdsville Races website.
