The international Society of Independent Show Organisers (SISO) has announced that Vinnie (Vincent) Polito will be its next CEO, replacing David Audrain.

Polito’s company, VP International, will also take over management of the peak body, continuing the outsourced arrangements that were already in place at SISO.

SISO’s events have long been the domain for tracking the latest exhibition industry trends and its annual thought leadership summit is popular with Australian organisers.

Following a selection process, the leadership recommendation of SISO’s Executive Committee was unanimously approved by SISO’s board at its August meeting held in conjunction with the organisation’s Summer Conference last week.

SISO chair Cassandra Farrington said Polito’s advocacy strengths were among the reasons for his appointment.

“His extensive industry experience and connections, combined with his history in the lobbying activities that have become so critical to our industry in recent years, make him ideally suited to the challenges and opportunities that define the organisation’s next chapter,” she said.

Polito has been a major player in the US expo industry, leading major organiser, mdg, for over a decade. He also had an extensive period at Reed Exhibitions.

He and his company take on the leadership role on January 1, 2023.

SISO is an important and vocal leader in advocating for the exhibition industry and has helped build its profile in the United States and around the world. Collectively, SISO members deliver more than 3,500 exhibitions per year, contributing US$122 billion to the global economy.

Long-serving SISO CEO, Audrain said on LinkedIn that the association would be in great hands and congratulated the incoming CEO and his management company.

“As I start the transition to hand over the management of SISO to Vinnie Polito on January 1, I am extremely confident that SISO will be in great hands with Vinnie, and I am excited to be able to focus 100 per cent on our company and shows, so Stephanie Everett and I can make 2023 a banner year for ExpoDevCo.”
