Mr Harvey Lister, the Asia-Pacific (APAC) chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of ASM Global APAC has been announced as the latest recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Australian Event Awards 2020.

The Lifetime Achievement Award aims to recognise great Australian industry figures that have made significant contributions to events in the country.

Over the past 45 years, Mr Lister and his business partners have been involved in the presentation and management of events spanning all forms of sport, the arts, conventions and exhibitions, concerts and general entertainment. He has a wealth of knowledge and practical experience in the design and operation of major public assembly facilities, the events they host, and of the tourism and leisure industries generally.

Following the 2019 merger of AEG Facilities and SMG, two of the world’s leading venue management and services companies, Mr Lister became CEO of ASM Global (APAC), and is responsible for overseeing ASM Global’s portfolio of business activities in Australia, New Zealand, India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

To date, Mr Lister has been involved in the presentation of more than 40,000 major events including thousands of global and national conferences.

On the announcement, co-chair of the Event Awards judging panel Peter Rix said: “Harvey Lister is an outstanding Australian who has devoted his entire working life to the business of successfully managing venues and presenting events across Australia and now the world! I could not think of anyone more deserving of this acknowledgement.”

The annual awards show will take place today across Australia’s capital cities, where the winners will be announced in other categories.
