Harvey Lister, the APAC Chairman and CEO for the worldwide venue management giant ASM Global has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
With half a century’s experience in the events industry, Lister was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to the arts, tourism, sport and the venue management and events industries.
ASM Global President and CEO Ron Bension praised Lister’s inclusion in yesterday’s Honours List.
“This extraordinary honour is recognition of Harvey Lister’s lifetime dedication to the entertainment and events industry in Australia. His passion, innovation and determination to advance the sector is unmatched. We congratulate Harvey on being awarded an AM in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list and look forward to his ongoing advocacy and contribution to the industry both in Australia and globally.”
Lister said he was humbled by his appointment.
“I would like to express my thanks to the many people who have been there throughout my career for their generosity, loyalty and camaraderie. I also wish to pay tribute to the 5,000 employees of our Australian ASM Global family, for the work they do and the role they play in the success of our many venues.”
Lister is also an Advisory Board Member for the Committee for Brisbane and Director of peak Australian tourism industry group, the Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF).
Another events industry figure to make yesterday’s list was Brian Gilbertson, “for significant service to festivals and events in South Australia to opera, and to voice education”. An event manager and creative director at Events South Australia, he runs the annual Christmas Pageant, a festive season parade in Adelaide.
