Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC) has 180 mostly local events booked through the end of December, says GM Simon Burgess, adding: “They may not all materialise but that’s encouraging.”
He explained that ACC kept all permanent staff and was operating near normal with two sqm per person. A conservative approach meant the 3000 sqm plenary with fixed seating for 3000 was down to only 1000 socially distanced by at least 1.5 metres, while open space halls of 1000 sqm could take 500.
He hopes interstate borders open by Christmas, “…But the silver lining for us is that our books for the next two years show a very healthy spread of events – national, international and obviously local. But it is all about momentum now, all taking the next step to some business events normality.”
