Accor has signed its Novotel brand to a new-build boutique hotel in Hawthorn, about 6km from the Melbourne central business district.

The seven-storey 87-key hotel set within the bustle of shops on Glenferrie Road is expected to complete construction in late 2023 and open in the first quarter of 2024 with meeting spaces, a private health club, an all-day food and beverage option and a whiskey and cigar lounge.

“Our interaction with the local community tells us this is exactly what the Hawthorn local market has been demanding and we are confident the market will love Novotel Melbourne Hawthorn when it opens,” said Johnson Zhang, CEO of APH Holding, the property’s owner.

“Novotel Melbourne Hawthorn will deliver a distinctive and personable hotel offering for the Hawthorn community, a location that is ready for a hotel of this calibre.”

APH Holding is a privately owned asset management and investment firm specialising in property development in the hospitality sector as well as across the healthcare, commercial and retail spaces. The company is expecting to deliver 2,000 new hotel keys over the next ten years.

Other hotel developments in the pipeline for the Melbourne-based business include two internationally branded luxury properties in Box Hill, around 14km from the city.
