As restrictions ease and borders reopen, Accor has become the second major international hotel brand to launch a formal program to boost the attractiveness of working in the accommodation sector.

Accor’s Work Your Way program increases flexible working for staff, introduces new perks for employees, makes it easier for staff to travel and work around the Pacific and focuses on advanced career development. The new talent attraction program is also streamlining the recruitment process, introducing same day recruitment for frontline roles including reception, housekeeping and food and beverage attendants, to have staff working on the same day they apply for a role.

The hotel brand is expecting to grow its 18,000-person workforce across Australia and New Zealand by up to 15 percent and is currently recruiting 1,200 new team members for most of its 400 properties in the region.

“As domestic, and soon international tourists, flock back to hotels and restaurants across Australia and New Zealand, the industry needs talented individuals who wish to build a rewarding career,” said Accor Pacific CEO Simon McGrath.

“I could never give back to the industry what it has given me in terms of career development and learning opportunities. I have worked for Accor for a long time, because you can be yourself and take your career wherever you want.

“Our teams bring diversity, experiences and stories to our culture, which makes Accor a community for all to excel. If you are passionate about caring for guests and doing your best, you will go far in our business,” he said.

Accor Pacific’s Senior Vice President of Talent & Culture, Sarah Derry, said the new program would create dramatic change.

“Lives and dreams don’t always fit neatly around working hours and current roles – that’s why we’ve introduced Work Your Way at Accor.

“This program will create dramatic positive change by attracting great talent that will enrich our industry’s future.

We recognise that greater flexibility in the workplace creates a fulfilling and inclusive team member experience where our team can contribute in a healthy, stimulating and productive way, while advancing their career with the largest hotel operator in Australia and New Zealand.”

Accor’s brands include SO/, Sofitel, MGallery, Pullman, Mövenpick, Peppers and Novotel.

IHG Hotels and Resorts has also recently launched a new talent attraction program called IHG myBenefits program, which introduced flexible working arrangements and staff incentives like birthday leave and sabbaticals, which are also features of the Accor program.
