The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s (NCBA) Cattle Industry Summer Business took place this July, with 450 attendees gathering in Colorado for the in-person element of the hybrid event. Attendance for the annual meeting was down less than 10 per cent compared with last year.

So just how was it able to take place during a global pandemic?

With the assistance of a new tool: the HealthShield™, a COVID-symptom screening tool developed by 42Chat. On the first day of the event, attendees received a text from 42chat with a three-question symptom survey which determined their participation in meetings. Over the course of the three-day event, 187 users completed 439 health screenings, and organisers had access to the real-time data.

This was the first usage of HealthShield in a conference or meeting setting, and the NCBA plans on re-using HealthShield at its larger CattleCon event in February 2021 in Nashville.

Hopefully HealthShield becomes less rare in the meetings and events space. Perhaps medium rare.
